Build It, Champion It: HR's Next Level in AI Adoption

This interactive, discussion-based forum is designed exclusively for HR practitioners who already have a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence and use AI tools regularly in their work. If you are still creating that foundation, this session is not the right fit for you yet. Additionally, this session is intentionally limited to HR practitioners, as we seek to facilitate peer-to-peer learning.

Led by Michelle Caryn Paul, PhD, industrial-organizational psychologist and responsible AI adoption advisor, this 60-minute session moves beyond the basics and into practical application. Participants will explore two interconnected dimensions of AI advancement in the HR function: (1) building custom AI tools tailored to their role and organization, and (2) stepping into a proactive leadership position for responsible AI adoption.

The session opens with an overview of custom AI tools and a set of examples, providing a real-world picture of what is possible across Microsoft, Google, and other AI environments. Dr. Paul then walks participants through the foundational steps of building a custom chatbot, with platform-agnostic guidance applicable regardless of the technology environment in their organization. She also provides guidance for how each participant can be a proactive, positive force for responsible AI adoption regardless of their formal job title. Then, participants are encouraged to share their own experiences building custom AI tools, ideas they have for build projects, and open Q&A.
