On July 24, from 12-1:30, the HR Leadership Forum of Greater Washington is participating in a shared program with the North American HR Leadership Network (NAHRLN) including multiple groups across the US and Canada featuring Dr. Solange Charas.
OBJECTIVES
1. Understand the Shifts in Human Capital Management (HCM)
Gain insight into the key developments that have transformed human capital management and reporting, including regulatory changes, business model developments, and demographic shifts.
2. Learn About Regulatory Requirements
Comprehend the implications of SEC and ESRS reporting requirements for human capital, including anticipated disclosure mandates and the importance of materiality in human capital performance.
3. Develop Financial Literacy and Analytical Skills Approach:
Enhance competencies in financial literacy and data analytics necessary for modern HR practitioners to effectively measure, manage, and communicate the value of human capital investments.
4. Create a Business Case for Human Capital Investments:
Learn to articulate the financial benefits of investing in human capital programs, using metrics such as HCROI, HCII, and other performance indicators to justify and rationalize these investments.

Overview of the shift towards recognizing human capital as an intangible asset and its implications on HR practices and corporate governance.
2. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
Detailed understanding of the SEC’s requirements for materiality disclosures related to human capital and the European ESRS standards, including specific metrics and disclosure expectations.
3. Framework for Measuring Human Capital Performance
Introduction to new metrics and methodologies for assessing human capital performance, such as HCROI, HCII, HCVA, and their correlation with financial performance indicators.
4. Building the Business Case for Human Capital
Strategies for creating a compelling business case for human capital investments by demonstrating the ROI and cost avoidance benefits, as illustrated by client engagement examples in the presentation.
There will also be a breakout groups, enabling discussion with colleagues from other regions!
Dr. Solange Charas is the Founder and CEO of HC Moneyball, and a Professor of Practice at Columbia University. She is a governance researcher and thought-leader in use of human capital analytics.
Solange focuses on data analytics to quantify the material (financial) impact of human capital on corporate performance and understand the effectiveness of human capital programs in generating HCROI. She serves on the ISO TC-260 committee responsible for all human capital standards.She is also a board director at The Conference Board, Ezra Coaching, USC’s Compensation and Benefits Committee, and the WorldatWork Editorial board.
She earned a PhD in Management (focused on Board Governance) from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, and a BA in International Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
